About Us
Tlalokan Equestrian Centre operates in a proud, strategic partnership with the Iqadi Horse Racing Association (IHRA). This powerful collaboration bridges the gap between community-based horse racing heritage and formalised training, development programmes, and competitive sporting structures.
IHRA is a trailblazing, women- and youth-led Non-Profit Organisation (boasting 90% women and youth leadership representation), focusing heavily on rural equine development and structured skills transfer to historically disadvantaged communities. Together, we are strengthening access to equestrian sport and creating sustainable economic opportunities across the entire value chain.
Our vision is to become the premier rural-based equestrian academy in South Africa, recognized for bridging the gap between untapped potential and professional sporting excellence. We are dedicated to producing highly skilled athletes capable of competing at all levels, while simultaneously empowering local youth with transformative life skills. By leveraging the profound physical, mental, and emotional benefits of multidisciplinary horse sport, we aim to cultivate resilient, sustainable sporting communities where equestrianism is accessible, celebrated, and deeply rooted in the local culture.
Our mission is to deeply develop and sustainably grow equestrian sport across rural South Africa. We are committed to breaking down historical and geographical barriers by providing highly accessible, subsidized training and structured competitive pathways for untapped talent. By fostering an environment that drives athletic excellence and champions social inclusion, we aim to do more than just build riders; we strive to empower youth, create local employment opportunities within the equine industry, and guarantee a positive, long-term economic and social impact within these rural communities.
Everything we do is built upon these foundational pillars
Excellence: Unwavering dedication to high standards in sport and horsemanship.
Empowerment: Nurturing youth development and personal growth.
Inclusion: Building strong community partnerships and ensuring equitable access.
Respect: Deep reverence for our culture, the welfare of our horses, and our rural heritage.
Sustainability: Maintaining accountability and building pathways that last.
